In 1992, Volker Lutz and Thorsten Brenda founded the project named Evils Toy in Witten. Starting with EBM and distorted vocals, it soon became synth-pop. In 2000 the band changed its name to t.o.y.: Volker Lutz (vocals, composition, production), Marc Nathaniel (drums) and Helge Wiegand (keyboards). t.o.y. skillfully blurs the boundaries between alternative pop, electro and mainstream. Their music moves between catchy dance-pop á la Hurts and influences from the 80s. They are brilliant at producing light-footed pop songs. In addition to the faster, club-friendly tracks, t.o.y. do not fail to provide contemplative breaks.
